I have been teaching drums privately since 1987. Whether you are just beginning and want a solid foundation, or you are a gigging professional looking for new ideas or to "brush up" on a few things--lessons will help you achieve your drumming goals. You need not feel intimidated by taking lessons. With my easy approach, you'll gain confidence and be on your way to making great music in no time. Lessons are taught to all ages- in all styles, and are given by me personally in my home studio in Madison, WI. Being taught on a one on one basis, the lessons are shaped differently for everyone and designed to be fun while you learn at your own pace.
My teaching strong points include: mastering the rudiments, learning to read music, preparing solo & ensemble material, improvising, double bass technique, and forming proper hand technique and speed. I also work with many professional drummers "fixing" certain bad drumming habits to help them move to the next level. You don't even need a drumset to start--just drumsticks, a practice pad, possibly a lesson book (all for purchase here at the studio, and lots of enthusiasm. Lessons are usually set up for a half an hour to an hour, scheduled for the same time once a week. The price per half hour is $20.00. There is no signup fee or contract to sign up for an extended period of time. You may even try just one lesson to see if you like it. If you decide to continue lessons, you will need to sign a lesson policy stating you will pay one lesson fee in advance as a deposit. Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson, or your deposit is forfeited.
An extensive selection of instructional books are on-hand and available at the teaching studio for your convenience so you can spend more time learning instead of searching all over for the right books.
There is a comfortable lounge for parents waiting during their child's lesson.
If you have any questions regarding my teaching or would like to set up lessons, please feel free to call me at 608-442-7723
