Musician Wanted

eeking fiddle player for bluegrass band based in Madison. Really laid back rehearsal with a focus on quality of music rather than rigid structures; we've had a few paying gigs with more in the works, but we're definitely in it for the music not the money. Full band currently includes two guitars, upright bass, mandolin, banjo with all of us doing some of the singing- ages running from twenties to retired. Good people, really. We play a lot of classic bluegrass, occasionally a little classic country or modern crossover (like Old Crow Medicine Show's "Wagon Wheel") and will start to incorporate some original work soon. If you have experience playing bluegrass that's ideal, but you definitely don't have to be expert on the genre if you're skilled, a quick study, and able to improvise (we have a growing list of songs that we have pretty polished, but a much longer list that we like to be able to pull from for longer shows, and we're always trying out new harmonies and riffs in rehearsals to get a good sound). Our last fiddle player had only done classical stuff when they started and was cranking out fiddle tunes a couple of months in.  We rehearse 2-4 times per month with about 2 gigs per month; rehearsal is held in a local pub where we will also be performing soon.
